2 PAX relived YHC’s 5K Turkey Trot route from the day before (+/- Hell Hill).

The Thang

What better way to celebrate one’s 2-Year F3 Anniversary than to go back to the workout that started it all? That’s exactly what YHC brought for the PAX this morning in the gloom. Someone asked who they could thank for this brutal beatdown and YHC told them they could thank Coco: GP’s 1st Post.

2 years later, this is what it looked like:

The PAX took a short mosey to the other side of the parking lot for a mini-burpee/merkin/squat ladder.
3 parking medians lay out in front of us. Crawl bear to the first median.
1st median: 2 burpees/2 merkins/2 BWS – crawl bear to the next median
2nd median: 4 burpees/4 merkins/4 BWS – crawl bear to the next median
3rd median: 6 burpees/6 merkins/6 BWS – plank it out while all PAX finish.

While circled up and preparing to move out – we honored each of the PAX in attendance with a burpee.
5 Burp & Merks OYO. Now it’s time to roll on to the bottom of Heartbreak Hill.

Upon arrival: 5 Hand Release Burpees. The PAX looked tired from/of Burpees, so we took a break for Mary.

  • Heels to Heaven (x20 IC)
  • American Hammers (x10 IC)
  • Crunchy Frogs (x10 IC)
  • Flutters (x20 IC)

After our Mary break, the PAX paired up for Dora–1 group of 2, 1 group of 3. Essentially, each PAX was tasked to complete the following: 50 burpees/100 merkins/150 squats. The PAX who is not completing the exercise runs to the top of Heartbreak Hill and back.

After completing 100 burpees & 200 merkins… we were getting short on time. PAX broke the 150 squats into 5 parts (30 squats for each PAX). 2 parts at the bottom of the hill, run to the top of the hill, 2 parts at the top of the hill, run to the bottom of the hill, 1 final part at the bottom of the hill.


Finished up with one of YHC’s absolute favorites: Ring of Fire.

  • Leadership Meeting next Tuesday (12/3) at Starbucks on Lakeline & Crystal Falls Parkway – 0600 to 0700.
  • New Year’s Ruck starting to take shape, Cable Guy will be sending out a poll for best dates in January.
  • End of Year Banquet/Social event being planned, Golden Pinky will work on logistics and hope to have a plan by end of week next week.
  • Founder of F3, Dredd (David Redding), tentatively planning to visit F3 NATX for the first time ever on December 18 – clear calendars now in order to give him a warm F3 NATX welcome!


No BOM speech long or short could articulate how much F3 has meant to me for the last two years. I would love to name all my F3 brothers that have played an integral part in my life, but I could go on all day and I’d still run out of time trying to name everyone.

But, this is Thanksgiving, and I absolutely do have to give thanks for a particular set of men that have meant the world to me and my time in F3.

To Marky Mark, for EH’ing me for well over a year, never giving up on me and always being faithful to giving F3 away. To Boyardee, for finally convincing me to make it out for a workout. Having Marky Mark and Boyardee as neighbors in North Carolina and becoming F3 brothers made an extraordinary impact on my life–I’ll never forget our rides to and from a workout and all the knowledge y’all shared with me.

To Rambler, for introducing me to rucking and setting the bar as a HIM–the man you are is the man I continually strive to become. To Griswold, for making me feel a part of the group and always giving me the strength I needed to get through an exercise and crush the Murph. To Grunge, and Zook, and Flenderson, and Bright Idea, and Chum, and Stubbs, and Skynard, and Paperboy, and Mothman, and Gomer, and Germ, and Dueling Banjos, and Sussudio, and Stinky Pete, and Goat Cheese, and GTL, and Coco, and ICE, and Closer, and RG3, and many, many, many more F3 Churham brothers!

To Platinum Pinky, for starting your F3 journey in Churham with me and remaining on this journey as we brought F3 to North Austin. To Photo Op and Globetrotter, for taking a chance on this group and sticking with our small workout group, even when it was just the three of us. To Cable Guy, and Newton, and Red Ryder, and Link, and Mr. Texas, and Slides, and Chernobyl, and Nemo, and Elmer Fudd, and Gemini, and Novocaine, and Miyagi, and Rio, and Sid the Kid, and Matador, and Mini Leaks (Texas?), and John Deere, and Forrest, and Draper–y’all are F3 NATX and I wouldn’t be here today without each and every one of you.

Long story short–these last two years have been incredibly life changing for me. Can’t wait to celebrate many more anniversaries and can’t wait to see the (even longer) list of men that have become brothers to me and the life you all continue to change for the good. Thanks again, brothers.
